JUSTIN TOWNES EARLE
KIDS IN THE STREET (2017)

On his seventh album (and New West debut) Kids in the Street, Justin Townes Earle raises the creative and personal stakes to deliver a deeply soulful set that's both emotionally riveting and effortlessly uplifting. The 12-song set marks a decade into Earle’s recording career and was produced by Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, First Aid Kit) at his RCA Studios – the first time in his career that Earle has worked with an outside producer. Taking himself out of his creative comfort zone and assembling a new set of collaborators, Earle has created one of his most potent efforts to date, reflecting all manner of new influences upon his life and his art.

“Kids In The Street is the veteran songwriter’s most pleasing and playful effort to date.” - NPR Music

“Justin Townes Earle’s Kids In The Street is his finest album to date.” - UPROXX

"Earle demonstrates on "Kids in the Street" that he still has plenty to say. He's playful, adventurous and settling into his talent, with an album that rivals his best work. And that's saying something. Earle long ago established himself as a first-rate singer-songwriter, living up to his legacy as the son of the one of world's great songwriters, Steve Earle, and the namesake of another, Townes Van Zandt." - Associated Press

"...his rangiest set yet...Yet it always feels organic, never mannered." - Rolling Stone

"Kids in the Street is the album longtime Earle fans have waited for and the one new fans never knew they needed." - Newsday

"Genre-hopping within the course of a single album can be tricky; done poorly, it can come off like a disjointed mess. Justin Townes Earle pulls off the feat quite nicely on Kids In The Street, demonstrating impressive versatility without getting tripped up by any single stylistic detour."
American Songwriter

"Never one to be constrained by the straitjacket of country orthodoxy, Earle infuses his songs with elements of classic soul (Champagne Corolla) and jazz (the delightfully breezy What’s Goin’ Wrong). Best of all, though, is the title track, a moving reflection on the gentrification of the Nashville neighbourhood in which he grew up." - The Guardian

"Kids in the Street puts the focus squarely on the distance this talented kid has traveled down the bumpy street that is Americana." - Exclaim!

"...this is among his very best work to date." - AllMusic

"...he's now put out two albums that are better than anything Dad's released in the last 17 years, and Kids is one of them."
"There will be very few albums this year as fine."
