The Texas Gentlemen
TX Jelly (2017)
The Texas Gentlemen is a Lone Star-bred collective with an ever-evolving cast of characters based around the core sextet of Beau Bedford, Nik Lee, Daniel Creamer, Matt McDonald, Ryan Ake, and Scott Lee. Their debut album TX Jelly – cut live over four days at the legendary FAME Studios and produced by Bedford – moves between contemplative and raucous, encompassing all facets of American music: blues, soul, folk, country, rock, and gospel. It is real, raw, and righteous.
Now the go-to group of players for country, pop, and everything in-between, the Gents have also backed an incredible array of artists including George Strait, Kris Kristofferson, Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes, Leon Bridges, Shakey Graves, Matthew Logan Vasquez (Delta Spirit), Ray Wylie Hubbard, Ray Benson, Joe Ely, Nikki Lane, and many more.
UK PRESS
"Watching the Texas Gentlemen is like watching The MGs or The Dap-Kings or even The Band."
- Classic Rock Magazine
“...a rampant showcase for a band who refuses to adhere to the usual limits.”
- UNCUT's September Americana Album of The Month (8/10 stars)
"'Habbie Doobie,' the instrumental opener, sets out their stall. It's an old-fashioned riff affair, the kind that bands regularly came up with in rock's early days, but the TG's take it into contemporary territory in hard-hitting style, forever building on the basic theme. The title track is an intriguing rhythm thing, 'Shakin' All Over' proves they're pretty adept with cover-shots, while 'Superstition' (not the Stevie Wonder song) attests that they can handle harmony vocals in impressive fashion." - MOJO (4/5 stars)
“When six Dallas Studio musicians…hit the brief on the nose with this soulful stunner.”
- Classic Rock Magazine, Ultimate Playlist 2017
"The perfect soundtrack for an imaginary drive across the Lone Star State." - The Sunday Times
"This is a debut album to remember." - The Daily Express
"Each song throughout the album made you want to list more, with the next song making you wonder with anticipation of what was coming next." - Cross Country
"These boys create something very special indeed" - Country Music Magazine
“There is a lot to discover on repeated listens and love here”
- The Country Music People (4/5 stars)
U.S. PRESS
"It's a fantastic collection of good-ass guitar music. Sometimes it sounds like The Beatles, sometimes Jefferson Airplane, sometimes Leon Russell. It's both funky and psychedelic, softly acoustic singer-songwriter, and occasionally perverted." - Vice/Noisey
"...an upbeat cross between the Band and early-Seventies-era George Harrison." - Rolling Stone Country
"These Gentlemen are the real McCoy." - Paste Magazine
"It’s an authentic, confident sprawl of exploration and Americana from a group of musicians who don’t just love playing music, but also have a deep rooted appreciation for its history." - No Depression
“The Texas Gentlemen may just be the ones to save Country music.” - Innocent Words
